To prepare for Spring Break, all EASB members are required to attend a weekly preparation seminar during Winter Quarter (3 Credits: Th 4:30pm-5:50pm). The goal of the seminar is to:
To prepare for Spring Break, all EASB members are required to attend a weekly preparation seminar during Winter Quarter (3 Credits: Th 4:30pm-5:50pm). The goal of the seminar is to:
- Build a relationship between other EASB members
- Explore local issues of rural/tribal education through literature and group discussions
- Expand knowledge about EASB's partner communities
- Learn about the importance of environmental education and issues
- Develop curriculum building skills in partnership with NASA
- Engage in service-learning to gain insight to working in a classroom (see below).
Service Learning Component
EASB members may earn additional credits through the service learning component during winter quarter. Service Learning connects students with partnering schools and outdoor programs in our local area to enhance our education practices and connection to community.

- Empowered Eco-Education - A Pipeline Project seminar after school enrichment program that teaches environmental science to elementary students at Concord Elementary School
- Beacon Hill International School - School Day Tutor
- Northgate Elementary School - Science, Language Arts, and Math Tutor
- Orca K-8 School Garden - Garden Volunteer
- Salmon Bay K-8 Alternative School - Math, Science, and Language Arts Tutor
- Washington Middle School - Middle School Tutor: Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts including Special Education and Second Language Learners
